How an exceptional product began as an experiment… in someone’s
kitchen.

In the mid-1990s, distinguished periodontogist and former NU College of Dentistry Dean Dr. Ranny Reyes was looking for an oral solution that could effectively neutralize germs but be more palatable to his dental patients. What began with experiments in his kitchen with the antiseptic agent chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX), known to decrease microbial flora on the skin and prevent infections, became what we know now as ORAHEX.

HOW DOES ORAHEX WORK?

Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX), the active ingredient of Orahex, binds to microbial cell walls and damages their surface structure, thus leading to cell death. Approximately 30% of the active ingredient is retained in the oral cavity for up to 12 hours after rinsing since chlorhexidine has a substantive property.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RINSE WITH ORAHEX?

Orahex is used twice daily, morning and evening. The liquid should be expelled completely. To maximize effectivity, do not rinse with water, brush teeth, eat or drink for at least thirty minutes after use.

IS ORAHEX A REPUTABLE PRODUCT?

Orahex is recognized by both the Philippine Society of Periodontology (PSP) and the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-HNS).

CAN PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING WOMEN USE ORAHEX?

Since controlled studies in pregnant women have not been conducted, the benefits of use in pregnant women and lactating mothers should be weighed against possible risk
to the fetus.

DOES ORAHEX CONTAIN ALCOHOL?

Orahex comes with alcohol and alcohol-free variants.

CAN CHILDREN USE ORAHEX?

Children under six (6) years of age may use only the Alcohol-free variant but with strict adult supervision.

WHO SHOULD USE ORAHEX?

patients who wish to maintain a high standard of oral health should use ORAHEX.

ORAHEX may also be used by patients before and after undergoing dental procedures (including extractions, crowns, bridges, root canals) and dental surgery (implants) .

ORAHEX may be used as a soaking agent for (full or partial) dentures and removable dental appliances (positioners, braces, aligners, space maintainers, lip bumpers, etc.)

ORAHEX is also recommended for patients undergoing treatment for medical conditions and as such, have limited mobility and may need non-ingestible liquid oral health rinse as support.
